why train with a personal trainer and/or wellness coach?
People come to Push for many reasons. Some are busy professionals that don’t have the time to design a workout that meets their needs. Others have hit the proverbial “wall” and are having difficulties losing those last 10 pounds. Many clients are feeling lost in a cycle of work, family, and social obligations with so little time left for themselves that health complications begin to develop. If this sounds like your reality, you may benefit from instruction at Push. We take you “under our wing” to address your needs & goals and assist you in finding the right balance that fits your lifestyle!
push program
When you sign up for training at Push, you start with a body composition evaluation, a complete body measurement, and a fitness analysis. Your specific goals are identified and a personalized training program is established to help you attain them. An ongoing nutritional assessment will take place during the course of your training in order to more effectively meet your needs. Your sessions at Push will physically prepare you to handle the contemporary American lifestyle, where there is never enough time and temptation is literally around every corner.
A private session is your one-on-one appointment for intensive and personalized core strength and cardiovascular training and conditioning. During each session we will team up to produce maximum weight loss, balance, strength, functional conditioning, posture, health and mental fitness gains.
PUSH training sessions include functional and core training movements such as balancing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, etc… Sessions involve dynamic workouts using body weight, cable pulley systems, bosu balance balls, stability balls and basic strength equipment that all incorporate lunging, kicking, push ups, pull ups, dips, mountain climbers, burpees, etc… We also add some defense tactic movements by our highly trained defense tactics instructor. We provide you with the most diverse workouts possible and keep it entertaining, challenging and yes, even humbling for the BEST possible workout you can experience. Workouts can be geared toward sport-specific training as well simulating movements you would make snowboarding, skiing, playing tennis, golfing, dancing, football, and soccer to name a few.
At Push, we understand that a healthy lifestyle is a lifelong pursuit. In order to maximize your potential and live a life of adventure, you must have a healthy body and mind in which to do so. We also understand that ups and downs happen in everyone’s lives, but the ability to maintain momentum through hard times is a key to long-term health and fitness.
cardiovascular conditioning and fat burning
We provide direction on cardiovascular conditioning and fat burning by giving you specific heart rates to train your body in those zones while doing cardio workouts here and on your own. We give you detailed cardiovascular workouts to mix things up, as you need to constantly challenge your body and vary workouts to reach those goals! YES, even cardio workouts!
Your body adapts to the same “daily grind” and movement if you do the same thing every day at the same pace, and/or same distance. Lucky for our clients, our PUSH team leader has what we call “cardio A.D.D.” so again you will never get bored or repeat the same workout twice. If your heart rate is too high, you will burn the lean muscle tissue, that burns fat at rest and if your heart rate is too low, you won’t burn enough fat. We teach you and give you the tools to maximize your cardio workouts so that you are in your specific heart rate zone, to maximize calorie burn for your personal goals.
nutrition
PUSH trainers teach you how to balance your diet with foods that will fuel your weight loss. It's all so confusing! Low carb, low fat, high protein, organic... It's hard to know what to eat! Weight loss is all about "calories in" and "calories out."
We give guidance on diet and nutrition, referencing a certified dietician (Erin Browder) on call, we have you keep a log book of what you’re eating (if you so choose to do so) to help you create healthy, balanced meals and snacks. We even take you (and your family or friends are welcome) on grocery store tours for guidance in what is healthiest and realistic to what you would eat or typically eat. We help you become comfortable with those stores for added convenience, and understand it can be overwhelming, intimidating, and even sometime inconvenient because you don’t have much time to “research” the aisles you need to grab things from. We’re here to help eliminate any excuses you may come up with!
stretching
The end of each training session is tailored to create a custom series of stretches and variations just for you. We teach you stretches that you can do on your own, at home or when on the road, even at work! We also assist you in customized assisted stretches for your specific needs that day, after the workout. We only touch on the stretching after the strength training workout, so we stress that you set up an appointment for more in depth, deep muscle stretching and release, if you have any injuries or are recovering from injuries or if you need to know how to properly stretch daily on your own. Stretching is a vital component to gaining flexibility and elongating muscles, and is the key to injury prevention and fitness!
